By most recently reported annual revenue. Filing years differ between organizations because fiscal years and extensions differ. Revenue measures size, not effectiveness or impact β a larger Federation isn't a better one.

Method & caveats
- Sources. Organization list from the JFNA public federation directory. US financial figures are read directly from the IRS's e-filed Form 990 data, with older years from theProPublica Nonprofit Explorer. Canadian federations' figures come from their T3010 returns in the Canada Revenue Agency's open data, in Canadian dollars, and are kept out of every US total and ranking.
- How current. A Form 990 is due four and a half months after a fiscal year ends, with up to six more months on extension. FedFinder checks the IRS's monthly releases, so a return appears here within weeks of the IRS publishing it. Federations on a JulyβJune year have mostly filed for FY2025; calendar-year federations have until mid-November to file for 2025.
- Which figure we use. The same lines of the filed return for every organization β total revenue, total expenses, end-of-year assets β each linked to the return itself so you can check it.
- Coverage. 162 of 172 US and 12 of 12 Canadian federations have financial figures here. The rest are very small (filing only the IRS e-Postcard, which carries no figures), congregations that aren't required to file, or awaiting confirmation of which IRS record is theirs.
- Matching. Organizations are matched to IRS and CRA records conservatively β by name, address and the website printed on the return. Where a match is ambiguous, no financial data is published rather than risk attributing the wrong organization's finances.
- Fiscal years. "FY2025" is a fiscal year that ended in 2025 β for most federations, July 2024 to June 2025. A plain "2024" is a calendar year. Year ends differ between organizations, so the same label is not the same twelve months everywhere.
